Getting Started
  1. Launch the MonitApp
For the first time you run it you must enter your license (probably you received it by email) in this window
  2. When you haven't a excel file selected -- as is the case in the first run -- some buttons will be disabled. So you must select existing file with MonitApp format or create a new one.
To create a new file press button New File... on the Toolbar.
(Follow the link above to see how to create a file)
  3. Now if you have selected (in the previous step) the new file you will see all the buttons in Toolbar enabled.
  4. Press button Update Now... to get a first look of your computers status
    • A new window will be open to log what MonitApp is doing and, if you don't change the options, the excel file will be starting automatically.
    • While the process of collecting information from target machines is running you will see a lot of cells into excel file to be filled.
    • Wait until the excel file is closed and a new (Edit) button appear on log window

(The duration time to collect information from targets depends of the number of targets; the network delay; and the number of WMI classes that you have in profile)
    • Meanwhile you can have a look on edit profile and change or load a new profile
(But don't change anything yet. Wait until you see the results in excel file and then decide if you want other properties and/or other classes.
MonitApp is provided with 6 profiles. Just load one of those from directory where you have installed it (by default "C:\Program Files\MonitApp") and check if it full-fill your needs, or is an appropriated base for your changes)
    • When you see the button Edit in bottom of log window, click on it and an excel file with a lot of properties will be display.
  5. Choose Edit button and excel application will be launched with new file filled with the results. Take a look to see if that is what you want to know about your computers
  6. Now if there are exactly the properties/classes that you want to monitor you can program future runs in a periodically way by setting schedule tasks.
But, probably, you want to remove some classes/properties and introduce new ones. If that is the case you must edit the profile and then Run it again. Repeat the process until you get what you want and finally configure schedule tasks.
Of course you can change the profile after you configure the schedule tasks but in that case you must to ensure the excel file will be modified (add/remove sheets and columns) accordingly.
